Dodgers, Penny hope to feast again on road-challenged Rockies
Baseball Betting Lines
06/03/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Rockies can't win this season on the road or when Jeff Francis is on the mound. Both elements are in play tonight, when Colorado continues its three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine.
Colorado is 0-8 on its current 10-game road trip, stretching its franchise- record road losing streak to 13 games. The Rockies are allowing 8.6 runs per game over their eight-game skid while scoring just four a game. They haven't won as the road team since May 9 at San Diego and have dropped 19 of their last 21 on the road.
The Rockies' current skid on the road is the longest in the majors since Seattle lost 15 straight from June 22-July 8, 2004. Detroit also lost 14 consecutive games as the visitor, but that skid spanned the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
Also, the Rockies are 3-8 are in Francis' 11 starts this year, but hope their ace can back on track tonight.
After winning 17 games last year, Francis is just 1-5 on the season with a 6.12 earned run average, and earned a no-decision last time out. The left- hander faced the Cubs in Chicago on Thursday, yielding three runs on six hits over five innings of work. It was an improvement from his previous outing, when he was rocked for six runs over six innings versus the Mets on May 24.
Francis has faced the Dodgers twice this year, getting a no-decision on April 27 before falling at home to them on May 2. In his career, the lefty is 4-2 with a 2.96 earned run average in 11 career starts versus Los Angeles.
The Dodgers, though, counter with a struggling ace of their own. Having already lost two more games than he did all of last season, Brad Penny takes the hill for the Los Angeles and seeks his 10th straight winning decision against the Rockies.
Penny, who went 16-4 last year, has lost consecutive starts and is 0-4 over his last five outings to fall to 5-6 with a 5.66 ERA this year. The right- hander was tagged for six runs (5 earned) on eight hits over just four innings versus the Mets on Thursday.
Penny won four straight starts from April 16-May 2, winning the last two in that run versus the Rockies. He has given up three runs in each outing versus Colorado this year, but the Dodgers have also scored 11 runs in each of those starts.
In 23 career starts against the Rockies, Penny is 14-2 with a 3.06 ERA.
Los Angeles won the first five games of this year's season series with the Rockies until Colorado took the finale of a three-game home set on May 4. However, the Dodgers bounced back with an 8-2 win in Monday's opener, and are outscoring the Rockies 55-34 so far this season.
Derek Lowe (3-5) allowed one run over eight solid innings and Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with a home run for Los Angeles. Lowe was supported by an offense that pounded out 11 hits and was led by Kemp, who added a pair of doubles to his homer.
Jeff Kent and Andre Ethier also homered for Los Angeles, which snapped a two- game slide and earned just its second win in its past eight games.
Rockies starter Greg Reynolds (0-3) gave up six runs -- four earned -- on seven hits in five innings of work. Todd Helton collected three hits while Garrett Atkins and Yorvit Torrealba each had an RBI for Colorado.
Atkins and Helton have each homered this year off of Penny and are hitting a combined .333 (31-for-93) off him in their careers with four homers and 11 RBI.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.
Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.
Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.
Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com.
